Raw LCD Module, Touch Assembly or HDMI Kit?

A raw LCD module is appropriate when the embedded host supports its native interface and timing. A touch assembly adds the sensor, controller, cover lens and optional bonding. An HDMI or DisplayPort controller kit is simpler for PCs and development boards but adds board space, cabling, power and firmware dependencies.

For replacement projects, send the original model number, datasheet, connector drawing and host/controller information. Two seven-inch 800×480 panels may still differ in outline, pinout, signal mapping, FPC position, backlight circuit or viewing direction.

Is 800×480 the standard resolution for every 7-inch LCD?

No. It is common, but 1024×600, 1280×800, 800×1280 and other formats are available. Verify the exact model.

Can a 7-inch LCD connect directly to HDMI?
