Standard Module or Custom Solution?

Use a standard bar LCD when the active area, native resolution and interface already fit the host and enclosure. Custom cover glass, touch sensor, bonding, cable or controller work may adapt a standard module without changing the TFT cell. A truly custom active area or resolution is a different development scope and normally requires higher volume, tooling and a longer schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a bar LCD simply a standard panel cut to shape?

No. The active matrix, driver arrangement, glass outline and timing are designed for the native wide format. A finished standard TFT panel cannot normally be cut into a new aspect ratio.

Can HDMI connect directly to a bar LCD?

Usually not. Most modules use LVDS, eDP, MIPI or RGB/TTL and require a controller board that accepts HDMI and outputs the panel timing and voltage.

Can normal 16:9 content fill an ultra-wide display?

It can be cropped, stretched or letterboxed, but the result depends on the media player, GPU or controller. Design content at the native resolution whenever possible.

Can a custom cover lens make the active area longer?

No. Cover glass changes the outer appearance and mounting, not the TFT active pixels. The required visible area must fit the LCD active area.

What information is required for quotation?

Provide active-area and outline drawings, native resolution, interface, brightness, touch and cover-lens needs, temperature range, controller requirement, sample quantity and annual quantity.
