Choose an Industrial LCD Without Missing Critical Specifications

1. Define the application

- Which exact model and revision will be supplied, and can the corresponding datasheet be provided before sample approval?
- Is the model active, allocation-limited, last-time-buy or end-of-life, and how will product changes be communicated?
- Can samples and production units be traced to the approved model, revision and configuration?
- Which specifications are standard, which are customized and which require tooling or NRE?
- What are the sample lead time, production MOQ, forecast requirement and realistic mass-production lead time?
- Which quality checks, inspection records or qualification evidence are relevant to the application?
- How will interface, touch, cover glass, bonding, backlight and controller compatibility be verified?
- If the selected model changes, what engineering review and sample validation will be required?
Sample Qualification Before Mass Production
- Freeze the sample model, suffix, datasheet revision and customized configuration.
- Inspect dimensions, connector position, interface, image orientation, brightness and touch operation.
- Test the display in the actual host system, enclosure, power condition and expected ambient environment.
- Record acceptance criteria and any firmware, cable, controller or mechanical changes.

What information is required for an industrial LCD quotation?
Provide the full model number or target size, resolution, interface, brightness, temperature range, touch requirement, mechanical drawing, prototype quantity, annual usage and delivery target.
Can two LCD panels with the same size and resolution be interchangeable?
Not automatically. Outline, active area, connector position, pinout, voltage, timing, brightness, viewing direction, touch stack and initialization may differ.
Should I choose brightness before selecting the panel?
Brightness is one input. Ambient reflection, cover glass, bonding, thermal design, power budget, temperature and required backlight lifetime should be reviewed together.
When is a custom TFT LCD appropriate?
