Technical Overview
DBC062LCDAEN60L050A 6.2-Inch Square TFT LCD Overview
The DBC062LCDAEN60L050A is a 6.2-inch square TFT-LCD module featuring a native
720 × 720 RGB resolution, AHVA wide-view display technology and an
8-bit JEIDA LVDS interface. Unlike conventional rectangular LCD panels, this model uses
a nearly 1:1 display format with a 111.78 × 111.78 mm active area, making the screen geometry
particularly suitable for equipment designs that require a compact square visual interface.
The module combines the TFT-LCD panel, driver ICs, FPC and LED backlight assembly in a
126 × 126 × 7 mm overall structure. It supports 16.7 million colors,
uses a normally-black display mode and includes an anti-glare (AG) surface treatment.
720×720 Square Display Format
One of the defining characteristics of the DBC062LCDAEN60L050A is its
720 × 720 square pixel matrix. The equal horizontal and vertical resolution differs
significantly from standard 16:9 or bar-type TFT displays and provides a balanced display area for
square graphical interfaces.
The physical specification defines an active display area of
111.78 mm × 111.78 mm within a 6.2-inch diagonal panel. RGB pixels are arranged in an
RGB stripe configuration, with a specified dot pitch of
51.75 μm (RGB) × 155.25 μm.

8-Bit JEIDA LVDS Interface
The DBC062LCDAEN60L050A uses an LVDS digital video interface with
8-bit JEIDA data mapping. The panel connector specified in the datasheet is
12001S-60B-GFN1, using a 60-pin connection that carries LVDS data, clock,
power rails, gamma reference voltages and control signals.
The LVDS interface includes four differential data channels together with a differential clock pair.
The relevant signals include PIND0/NIND0 through PIND3/NIND3 and CLKP/CLKN.
The MODE pin also allows selection between HV mode and DE mode.
For the LVDS clock, the specification defines:
- Minimum clock frequency: 69.49 MHz
- Typical clock frequency: 70.825 MHz
- Maximum clock frequency: 75.54 MHz
- Frame rate: 60 Hz in DE mode
These interface details are important when matching the panel with a custom display controller,
FPGA, embedded processor or dedicated LVDS driver board.
500 cd/m² Brightness and AHVA Optical Performance
The optical specification lists a typical center brightness of 500 cd/m².
This is notably higher than many conventional indoor TFT panels and is one of the key characteristics
of this 6.2-inch square display.
The panel uses AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle) technology and normally-black operation.
Its optical specification defines a 1000:1 typical contrast ratio, with a minimum value
of 800:1.
The specified optical characteristics include:
- Typical brightness: 500 cd/m²
- Typical contrast ratio: 1000:1
- Minimum contrast ratio: 800:1
- Typical viewing angle: 60° top, bottom, left and right
- Maximum rise response time: 20 ms
- Maximum fall response time: 20 ms
- Luminance uniformity: 80%
The optical measurements in the specification are defined at an ambient temperature of 25°C and
are measured at the center area of the panel under the stated backlight test conditions.
Power Supply and Panel Driving Requirements
DBC062LCDAEN60L050A requires several panel power rails rather than a single LCD supply voltage,
which is an important consideration when designing a custom driver board.
The digital VDD supply has a recommended range of 3.0V to 3.6V, with
3.3V typical. Additional TFT driving voltages specified in the datasheet include AVDD,
VGH, VGL, VCOM and multiple gamma reference voltages.
| Supply | Typical Value |
|---|---|
| VDD | 3.3 V |
| AVDD | 13.5 V |
| VGH | 18 V |
| VGL | -8 V |
| VCOM | 4.6–4.9 V |
The specification also defines individual gamma reference voltages V1 through V18.
These electrical requirements should be taken into account when developing a dedicated LVDS controller
or panel power circuit for this display.
LED Backlight Characteristics
The backlight assembly uses 21 LEDs, arranged as seven strings with three LEDs per string
according to the backlight section of the specification.
The listed LED backlight driving conditions are:
- LED current: 450 mA typical, 480 mA maximum
- LED voltage: 9.0 V typical, 9.6 V maximum
- Specified LED lifetime: 10,000 hours
The datasheet defines LED lifetime as the time until backlight brightness decreases to 50% of its
original value under a 450 mA LED current at 25°C.
Power-On and Power-Off Sequence
The DBC062LCDAEN60L050A specification places particular emphasis on correct power sequencing.
Because the panel uses high-voltage TFT driving circuitry, an incorrect power-on or power-off sequence
may permanently damage the module.
The recommended power-on sequence is:
VDD → Digital Input → STBYB → LVDS → VGL → AVDD / VCOM / Gamma Voltage / VGH → LED Backlight
The power-off sequence is defined separately in the datasheet. Engineers integrating this raw TFT panel
should therefore implement the specified timing rather than simply switching all panel supply rails at the
same time.
The specification additionally requires at least 1 second between VDD turning off and
being powered on again, with AVDD, VGH and VGL reduced below 0.1V before VDD is reapplied.
Temperature Ratings and Reliability Testing
The absolute maximum ratings section specifies an ambient operating temperature range of
-30°C to +85°C and a storage temperature range of
-40°C to +95°C. These values are absolute ratings and should not be interpreted as
recommended operating conditions without reference to the complete electrical specification.
The reliability section provides additional environmental and mechanical test conditions, including:
- High-temperature storage: +80°C for 240 hours
- Low-temperature storage: -30°C for 240 hours
- High-temperature operation: +70°C for 240 hours
- Low-temperature operation: -20°C for 240 hours
- High-temperature/high-humidity operation: +60°C, 90% RH for 240 hours
- Heat shock: -30°C to +85°C for 100 cycles
- Contact ESD: ±8 kV, Class B
- Air ESD: ±15 kV, Class B
- Mechanical shock: 981 m/s², 6 ms
- Packaged drop test: 60 cm
The specification also documents vibration testing for both the display itself and the packed product.
These published test conditions provide useful reference information when evaluating the panel for
equipment that may be exposed to temperature cycling, shock or vibration.
